“This is a specialized process of reverse painted glass. When held up to the light, the creation of her one-of-a-kind pieces touches your very soul! Artist, Nancy Magnell indeed shines! Now more than ever…let there be light!” (Kjelene Bertrand)
Since I was in high school I have been interested in creating art. It was not until I was in my early 20′s that I realized art was my calling, and I chose to make it my career.
My exposure to art has been predominantly through self study. I was fortunate to live in a house that placed value and importance on art. Both of my parents were fine art collectors, so I was constantly surrounded by a steady stream of artistic influence.
When I reached high school my father introduced me to my first teacher, Veronica Nemethy. An expert in the fields of art restoration and conservation, Veronica was also a skillful landsape artist. Under her tutelage I developed my own style and technique.

Here is a quick shot of my current work in progress. Laying in the under painting on the main figure (inspired by the three foot long icicles hanging outside my window) They always look a little strange at this point Done in acrylics on a 14×11 inch wood cradled panel.
I paint to experience environments where I can never physically be, scenes from a past. I find myself walking through structures with out-dated architecture, dead places, where I have a desire to create fantasized narratives in memoriam . Resuscitating the condemned is a passion of mine, so I envision stories with creatures to occupy the abandonment.
But sometimes I make whatever.
